Many mathematicians are generally interested in problems that they deem to be aesthetically pleasing, seemingly without any worry as to if these problems will ever have any “real-world” application. This talk will explore the types of problems that have interested mathematicians throughout history. Some of these problems have led to very important applications and some have yet to be applied. Interestingly, certain mathematical results were discovered hundreds of years before their utilization in the “real-world”.

Trondheim Science Week is a festival arranged by volunteering students from Linjeforeningen Delta, the student association for mathematics and physics at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology).
Neste Realfagsdagene arrangeres 12.-14. mars 2025.
